Saab Salomon Mountain Mayhem 2004

This year's Mountain Mayhem 24-hour mountain bike endurance race was held in the picturesque Eastnor Deer Park, Herefordshire. The race is a team relay lasting from 2pm Saturday until 2pm Sunday. Steve and Hayley were two members of a team in the Mixed category.

This year the heavens opened and turned what would have otherwise been a tough but rideable course into a quagmire! Singletrack magazine suggested it was "the toughest UK 24-hour race ever". To decide for yourself have a look at some photos of the course.

Afterwards we heard of many teams not bothering to ride during the night and some even gave up and went home after only a few hours. But we soldiered on and made it through to the finish, not least because two of our team did an extra lap each - well done Andy and Damon!.

Most importantly, Hayley was sponsored by many people to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis Society (UK) and raised over £300. So very many thanks to all of you who supported her.

Some of the photos we took over the weekend are here.
